Honest Day vs Toggl Track

Looking for a Toggl Track alternative? Toggl is a strong tracker with no screenshots either. Here is what differs once the hours are logged.

No credit card needed. No screenshots, ever.

The short version

Toggl Track is a polished time tracker with native apps, calendar and tool integrations, approvals, profitability reports and its own AI. Like Honest Day, it says it has no screenshots, keystroke logging, webcam monitoring or location tracking.

The difference is the loop after tracking. Toggl Track's invoicing generates a PDF from a report, and its pages describe no built-in sending or online payment. Honest Day carries on: invoice, client portal, card payment, and a pay statement for each contractor.

Who each is best for

Toggl Track

Teams that want native mobile and desktop apps, Google and Outlook calendar integrations, and a mature tracker with capacity planning.

  • Integrations with Jira, Asana and GitHub.
  • Single sign-on on its Premium plan.

Honest Day

Small businesses and agencies that bill clients for tracked time and pay contractors from it, without stitching three tools together.

  • Invoices, estimates, a client portal and card payments in the same app.
  • One flat price per workspace.

What a team of 10 pays

Honest Day Premium is $9 per workspace per month, or $90 per year (two months free), for the first 1,000 workspaces. After that it is $19 a month or $190 a year, with unlimited seats and no usage fees. Your price stays the same for as long as your subscription stays active, and a team of 10 pays the same $90 a year as a team of 2. Per-seat tools scale with your headcount.

List prices with monthly billing, as shown on Toggl's pricing page in October 2026. Toggl bills less on annual plans: $9 and $16 per user a month. Prices change, so check theirs before you decide. Even at $19 flat, or $190 a year, Honest Day is far under per-seat totals.

Switching from Toggl Track

Switch in minutes. Import from Harvest, Toggl or any time CSV: people, clients, projects, tasks and every hour. Any other tracker's CSV works too.

  1. Export from Toggl Track. Download a detailed time report as a CSV.
  2. Open Import in Honest Day. Sign in, go to Import, and choose Toggl Track. If you'd rather start from a different tracker's CSV, choose Other tracker (CSV).
  3. Preview it. You see what will be created, and you choose whether to bring rates across and whether to skip time you have already invoiced.
  4. Import. Missing clients, projects, tasks and people are created for you. Nobody is emailed, and running it again won't duplicate anything.

The importer brings time entries, with the clients, projects, tasks and people they refer to. If anything looks off, email hello@honestday.app and we'll help.

Where Honest Day is different

Toggl Track is a better pick if you live in your calendar, want native apps, or plan capacity across a large team. Honest Day is the better pick if your week ends with an invoice and a payment to a contractor, and you would like both to come from the same hours.

Both of us have an AI assistant and an MCP server. Ours is part of a flat per-workspace price.

Questions

Does Honest Day monitor people differently from Toggl Track?

No. Toggl Track says it has no screenshots, keystroke logging, webcam monitoring or location tracking, and Honest Day has none either. The difference is what comes after tracking: invoices, a client portal and contractor pay.

Can I import my history from Toggl Track?

Yes. Switch in minutes. Export a detailed time report as a CSV from Toggl and import it from the Import page in Honest Day, which also reads Harvest and any other tracker's CSV. You get a preview first, and nobody is emailed.

What does Toggl Track have that Honest Day doesn't?

Native mobile and desktop apps, Google and Outlook calendar integrations, Jira, Asana and GitHub integrations, capacity planning and single sign-on. Honest Day has a Chrome extension, a web app you can add to your home screen, an API and an MCP server.
