Questions
How do I fill in the CSV?
One row per time entry. Use YYYY-MM-DD for the date and decimal hours such as 1.5 (or 1:30) for the duration. Put Yes or No in the Billable? column. First Name and Last Name say whose hours they are. Delete nothing from the header row.
How do I import it into Honest Day?
Sign in, open Import and choose the file. The column names are recognised automatically, you see a preview of what will be created, and nothing is added until you confirm. Running it twice does not duplicate entries.
How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?
Divide minutes by 60. Common values: 6 minutes is 0.1 hours, 15 minutes is 0.25, 30 minutes is 0.5, 45 minutes is 0.75.
Should I round time?
Pick one rule and apply it to every entry, for example to the nearest quarter hour, and tell clients what it is. Mixed rounding is the usual cause of invoice disputes.
When is a spreadsheet no longer enough?
When you need weekly approvals, rates that differ by person, or invoices built from the hours. Honest Day builds invoices from tracked time, and the free plan covers up to 5 members.
