Switch from Harvest: export your time and import it
Export a detailed time report from Harvest as a CSV, open Import in Honest Day, check the preview, and confirm. Your clients, projects, tasks, people and every hour come across. Past invoices stay in Harvest.

The steps
- Export from Harvest. Run the detailed time report for the full date range you want, then use Export to download a CSV. Harvest's help centre describes the export: Exporting data.
- Open Import in Honest Day. Sign in, go to Import and choose Harvest. Honest Day recognises Harvest's column names (Date, Client, Project, Task, Notes, Hours, Billable?, First Name, Last Name).
- Preview. You see what will be created before anything is. Choose whether to bring rates across and whether to skip time you have already invoiced.
- Import. Missing clients, projects, tasks and people are created. People added this way are not emailed.
- Check it. Compare a week's total hours and one client's total with the same figures in Harvest. Run a report in Honest Day for the same range.
What comes across, and what does not
- The importer reads time entries, with the clients, projects, tasks and people they refer to. Missing ones are created for you.
- You choose whether to bring billable rates across and whether to skip time you have already invoiced.
- Nobody is emailed. Running the import twice does not duplicate entries.
- Past invoices stay in your old tool. Export them before you cancel.
Your invoices
Harvest invoices are not part of the time export, so they stay in Harvest. Export or download the ones you need to keep before you cancel. Time that was already invoiced in Harvest can be skipped on import so it is not billed twice.
What it costs afterwards
Honest Day is free for up to 5 members. Premium is $9 a month at launch for up to 10 people ($19 after), then $10 per extra 10, with no usage fees. Compare with your current bill in the cost calculator, and see Honest Day vs Harvest for what you gain and what you give up.
Questions
How long does a switch take?
The import itself takes minutes. Plan time to check totals and to set up what the export does not carry, such as invoice templates and payment settings.
Are my rates imported?
Billable rates can come across if you choose that in the preview. Check the rates on a project or two afterwards.
What about my team?
People in the export are created in the workspace and are not emailed. Invite them from Team when you are ready.
What if the numbers do not match?
Email hello@honestday.app with what you see. Importing never duplicates entries, so a corrected file can be run again.
