Switch from Toggl Track: export your time and import it
Export the Detailed Report from Toggl Track as a CSV, open Import in Honest Day, check the preview, and confirm. Your clients, projects, tasks, people and every hour come across.

The steps
- Export from Toggl Track. Open Reports, choose the Detailed Report, set the date range, and export it as CSV. Toggl's help centre explains it: Exporting data. Toggl notes that CSV and Excel exports on some reports are a paid feature, so check what your plan allows.
- Open Import in Honest Day. Sign in, go to Import and choose Toggl Track. Honest Day recognises Toggl's detailed export columns, including Start date, Duration and User.
- Preview. You see what will be created before anything is. Choose whether to bring rates across and whether to skip time you have already invoiced.
- Import. Missing clients, projects, tasks and people are created. Nobody is emailed.
- Check it. Compare one week's total hours and one client's total with Toggl's report for the same range.
What comes across, and what does not
- The importer reads time entries, with the clients, projects, tasks and people they refer to. Missing ones are created for you.
- You choose whether to bring billable rates across and whether to skip time you have already invoiced.
- Nobody is emailed. Running the import twice does not duplicate entries.
- Past invoices stay in your old tool. Export them before you cancel.
If you invoiced elsewhere
Toggl's pricing page lists no invoicing, so your invoices probably live in another tool or in your accounting software. They stay there. In Honest Day you can build new invoices from the imported time.
What it costs afterwards
Honest Day is free for up to 5 members. Premium is $9 a month at launch for up to 10 people ($19 after), then $10 per extra 10. Toggl Track's list prices are per user: see Honest Day vs Toggl Track and the cost calculator.
Questions
Do I need a paid Toggl plan to export?
Toggl's help centre says CSV and Excel exports are a paid feature on some of its reports. Check your plan; the Detailed Report is the one to use for time entries.
Are tags and notes kept?
Descriptions and tags in the export are read by the importer. Check a few entries after importing.
Can I import again later?
Yes. The import does not duplicate entries, so you can import a newer export to bring across hours tracked since the first one.
