Time tracking for agencies
Track client work, approve timesheets, invoice from the hours, see margin by project, and turn contractors' hours into pay statements, with a price set by team size, not per person.

The agency workflow in one place
- Set up clients and projects. Hourly by project, task or person, fixed fee or non-billable, with budgets in hours or fees and alerts.
- Track. Timer, week grid, calendar, plain-language entry, and start buttons inside Gmail and Slack through the Chrome extension.
- Approve. People submit the week; managers approve or send it back. Approved weeks lock, and a Friday reminder goes to anyone who has not logged.
- Invoice. Build invoices from uninvoiced time and expenses, send them, and let clients pay by card.
- See the margin. Profitability reports: revenue, cost and margin.
- Pay contractors. A statement per person from their hours at their cost rate.
Contractors without a second spreadsheet
Each contractor's hours already sit next to the client's invoice. A contractor statement turns the same hours into what they are owed at their cost rate, with a link they can open and a paid status you set.
Honest Day does not send the payment. It tells you the number and keeps the record.
A price that steps up, not per head
Premium is $9 a month for up to 10 people at launch ($19 after the first 1,000 workspaces), plus $10 a month for each extra 10 people up to 100. Above 100, talk to us. There are no usage fees, so adding a client or a project never changes the bill, and a new freelancer only does when the team crosses a block of 10. Compare with per-seat tools in the cost calculator.
Where it falls short
Weigh these for your agency:
- No native iPhone, Android or desktop apps. Honest Day is a web app you can add to your home screen.
- No QuickBooks or Xero sync. Invoices export as CSV files you import into QuickBooks Online or Xero.
- No SAML single sign-on. People sign in with passkeys or an email link.
- Contractor pay statements show what each person is owed from their hours. Honest Day does not send the payment.
- Entries are written by people (or by the assistant when asked). Honest Day does not track in the background.
Questions
Can I see margin per client and project?
Yes, on Premium. Profitability reports show revenue, cost and margin from your billing and cost rates.
How do contractors work?
Add them as people with a cost rate. Their hours sit next to the client's invoice, and a contractor statement shows what they are owed from the same hours, with a shareable link and a paid status. Honest Day does not send the payment.
What happens to the price when the agency grows?
It steps up in blocks of 10 people, with no usage fees. Premium is $9 a month for up to 10 people at launch ($19 after the first 1,000 workspaces), plus $10 a month for each extra 10 people up to 100. Above 100, talk to us. A 25-person agency pays $29 a month at launch ($39 after), not 25 seats' worth.
Can we bring our history from Harvest or Toggl?
Yes. The importer reads Harvest and Toggl exports and any time CSV, shows a preview, and does not duplicate entries if you run it twice.
What is missing for an agency?
Native mobile apps, a QuickBooks or Xero sync, single sign-on, and background tracking. The comparison pages say where Harvest, Toggl Track and Clockify are ahead.
