Timesheet approvals: submit, approve, lock
People submit their week. A manager approves it or sends it back with a note, and approved weeks lock so the hours cannot change under an invoice. A Friday reminder email goes to anyone who has not logged. Timesheet approvals are part of Premium.

How a week gets approved
- Track. People log time as usual: timer, week grid, calendar or plain-language entry.
- Submit. At the end of the week the person submits it. They can withdraw it before it is approved.
- Approve or send back. A manager approves, or sends it back with a note saying what to fix.
- Lock. Approved weeks are locked. Locked entries cannot be edited, and bulk edits skip them and report what was skipped.
What sits around approvals
- A Friday reminder email, sent automatically, to people who have not logged their week.
- A Timesheets report showing who is under capacity for the week, with a one-click reminder email.
- Expense approval: with approvals on, members' expenses wait as "Awaiting approval" until a manager approves, and only approved, same-currency billable expenses reach an invoice.
- Time off requests with manager approval; approved days fill the timesheet on a built-in Time off project.
- Comments on a timesheet week, so questions stay with the hours.
Approval without watching people
Approvals are a review of what people say they worked, not a surveillance feed. Honest Day does not take screenshots, log keystrokes or score activity. Read how that works.
Plan
Timesheet approvals and time off are Premium: $9 a month at launch for up to 10 people ($19 after), then $10 per extra 10. See pricing. On Harvest, approvals are on the Enterprise plan; on Toggl Track, on Premium; on Clockify, from Standard (per vendor pricing pages, checked October 2026).
Questions
Who can approve?
People who manage the workspace or the project: owners, admins and managers.
Can approved time still be changed?
Approved weeks are locked. To change one, it has to be sent back or unlocked by someone who can, so the change is deliberate.
How does this connect to invoicing?
Invoices are built from uninvoiced time, so approving a week first means the hours you bill are the hours that were reviewed.
Is it on the free plan?
No. Timesheet approvals are part of Premium. The free plan includes the timer, week grid, invoices, expenses and contractor statements.
