A freelancer can run on the free plan: a timer, clients and projects, unlimited invoices, expenses with receipts, reports with CSV export, and a Chrome extension. Premium adds card payments, estimates, recurring invoices and retainers at $9 a month at launch for up to 10 people ($19 after), then $10 per extra 10.

What the free plan covers

  • Timer, day view, week grid, calendar and plain-language entry.
  • Unlimited clients, projects, time entries and invoices, with a small line on the web page and email that you can switch off.
  • Expenses with receipt photos, billable and reimbursable.
  • Reports with CSV export, budgets, dashboards and saved reports.
  • The Chrome extension, and an importer for Harvest, Toggl Track or any time CSV.

What Premium adds for a freelancer

  • Card payments through your own Stripe account, and the client portal.
  • Estimates that clients accept online, recurring invoices and retainers.
  • Overdue reminders, and your logo and brand color.

Compared with other free options

What is missing

  • No native iPhone, Android or desktop apps. Honest Day is a web app you can add to your home screen.
  • No QuickBooks or Xero sync. Invoices export as CSV files you import into QuickBooks Online or Xero.
  • No SAML single sign-on. People sign in with passkeys or an email link.
  • Contractor pay statements show what each person is owed from their hours. Honest Day does not send the payment.
  • Entries are written by people (or by the assistant when asked). Honest Day does not track in the background.

Questions

Do I need a team to use it?

No. Many features suit one person. The free plan covers up to 5 members.

Can I send invoices on the free plan?

Yes, unlimited, by email with a client link. Card payments are Premium.

I use Harvest or Toggl now. Can I bring my history?

Yes. See switch from Harvest and switch from Toggl Track.
