# Honest Day

> Honest Day is a web app for time tracking, timesheet approvals, client invoicing and contractor pay, built for small businesses and agencies that work with contractors. It does not take screenshots, log keystrokes, monitor apps or score activity. Hours are what people say they worked, with notes. Made by Ankur Shrestha (https://ankur.works).

Honest Day at honestday.app is unrelated to honestday.ai, an AI check-in product.

## What it does

- Tracking: a timer, a day view with a timeline, a week grid, and a calendar with drag to create, move and resize. Keyboard shortcuts and a Cmd K menu.
- Type to log: write "bb email 45m yesterday refund for order 4412 #refund" and it picks the client, project and task, the time, the date, the notes and the tag. The AI picks the project when unsure.
- Live team view: who is tracking what right now, and today's totals.
- Chrome extension: start buttons inside Gmail, Shopify admin, Slack, OpenPhone and Google Docs, plus a toolbar timer and badge.
- Clients, projects and tasks; hourly (by project, task or person rate), fixed-fee and non-billable projects; budgets in hours or fees with alerts.
- Reports by client, project, task, person, day and tag, including profitability (revenue, cost, margin), with CSV export and emailed weekly or monthly reports.
- Timesheet approvals (submit, approve or send back, locked weeks), Friday reminder emails, time off, and expenses with receipt photos.
- Invoices built from uninvoiced time and expenses, estimates clients accept online, recurring invoices, retainers, taxes and discounts, email delivery, a client portal, card payments through the workspace's own Stripe account, overdue reminders, and logo and brand color on documents.
- Contractor pay: statements from each person's hours at their cost rate, a shareable link, and a paid status. Honest Day does not send the payment.
- AI assistant ("Ask Honest Day") that answers questions from your data and logs time or starts timers, respecting permissions. An MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, a REST API, webhooks and Slack notifications.
- Switch in minutes: import from Harvest, Toggl or any time CSV, with people, clients, projects, tasks and every hour, with a preview. A CSV from any other tracker works too.
- Installable on a phone as a web app (not a native app). Light and dark. Passkey and email-link sign-in, no passwords.

## Plans

- Free: up to 5 members, unlimited projects, clients and time entries, timer, calendar, Chrome extension, basic reports with CSV export, unlimited invoices (the web page and email carry a small "Sent with Honest Day" line that you can switch off in Settings; PDFs never carry it), 20 AI turns a day.
- Premium is priced by team size, in blocks of 10 people, with no usage fees. Launch price: $9 a month, or $90 a year (two months free, $7.50 a month), for up to 10 people, for the first 1,000 workspaces. After that, $19 a month or $190 a year for up to 10 people. Each extra 10 people add $10 a month ($100 a year), up to 100 people. For more than 100 people, email hello@honestday.app. The launch price stays for as long as the subscription stays active. Adds approvals and time off, profitability reports, recurring invoices, retainers and estimates, card payments and the client portal, API, webhooks, MCP and Slack, report emails and overdue reminders, your own branding, and 500 or more AI turns a day.
- Free trial: Premium free for 21 days, no card, up to 10 people; the workspace goes back to Free by itself and nothing is deleted. During the trial the assistant has 100 turns a day, and QuickBooks sync is not included. One trial per person and per company.
- Billing is live, handled by Polar as merchant of record. Start free and upgrade any time from Settings, Plan inside the app (workspace owners only). Cancel any time; Premium continues until the end of the paid period.
- Team of 10: Premium is $9 a month or $90 a year at launch, then $19 or $190, not per person. A team of 25 pays $29 a month at launch ($39 after), because it is three blocks of 10.
